Ultrafiltration uses a porous membrane to remove particles. An ultrafiltration water system provides a low-cost alternative to a reverse osmosis system.

Water ultrafiltration (UF) is a filtration process that uses standard home water pressure to push water through its semi-permeable membrane. Ultrafiltration (UF) removes viruses, bacteria, as well as suspended particles from your drinking water. Particles and materials of high molecular weight are unable to pass through the 0.02 micron UF membrane so that only fresh water and dissolved minerals get through. The UF membrane also has a high chemical resistance to oxidants and chlorine, compared to a TFC reverse osmosis membrane, which cannot tolerate any chlorine.
Benefits of Ultrafiltration
- No water holding tank
- No waste water
- No water pressure problems
- Low cost
An ultrafiltration water system keeps good minerals in your water without producing waste water. Ultrafiltration treatment runs at low water pressure, does not require a separate water holding tank, does not alter the pH of your water, and does not require electricity. The UF membrane is stable at a wide range pH levels. Historically, ultrafiltration has been used in large municipal water treatment plants and hospitals; however, thanks to technological advances you can now install a powerful undersink water filtration system in your home.
