Tankless water heaters have become the preferred technology over conventional water heaters, but are also susceptible to accumulations of scale. Heat increases the likelihood for limescale deposits to form. As the tankless water heaters generate higher levels of heat, the scale build up becomes greater. Tankless water heaters are designed to operate at high efficiency, but hard water can work against that efficiency by forming on heating elements that can result in service calls.
The TAC Salt Free Anti-Scale Water Conditioning Systems transforms calcium ions into calcium crystals, which are stable and cannot attach to pipes, surfaces, hardware, or heat exchangers components. The crystals are so small, they are easily rinsed away by the water flow. This new Template Assisted Crystallization, or TAC process utilizes no salt, so there is no need for a brine tank, and uses no electricity, and generates no waste water. The TAC Anti-Scale System is a single cartridge-based system that must be installed on a cold water line prior to a water heating device like a conventional water heater or a tankless water heater.

Hard water is made up of calcium ions (Ca2+), magnesium ions (Mg2+), and bicarbonate ions (HCO3-). TAC uses a Template Assisted Crystallization, or TAC process which transforms these dissolved ions into non-charged, neutral chemical bonds, of calcium and magnesium crystals. These microscopic crystals of scale quickly form in treated water and cannot attach to pipes or any surface, and are rinsed away downstream in a colloidal suspension by the water flow. These crystals are heat resistant and are unable to revert to it's dissolved state.

TAC Anti-Scale System for Tankless Water Heaters includes:
  • TAC 20" x 4.5" Anti-Scale Cartridge
  • 3/4" 20" x 4.5" Filter Housing with Pressure Relief Button
  • Mounting Bracket w/screws
  • Two 3/4" John Guest Male Connectors
  • 3/4" Inline Shut off Valve
  • Filter Housing Wrench
TAC is not a water softener. It does not add chemicals or remove any minerals. It is a scale prevention device with proven third party laboratory test data and years of successful Food Service and Commercial applications. TAC is the intelligent scale solution as a great alternative to water softening (ion exchange) or scale sequestering devices.
The TAC media also has a descaling effect on scale already present in old pipes, hardware, etc. The water coming from the media is free of calcium ions. Calcium ions in the already existing scale are attracted to this unsaturated water and add on to the crystals that are now floating in the water. This way existing scale is usually heavily reduced or removed within on to two months. In addition to preventing scale, TAC also prevent corrosion.

SCALE is the incrustation of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) that forms within piping.

How does T.A.C. (Template Assisted Crystallization) Media Prevent Scale Buildup?
  • STEP 1 - The T.A.C. MEDIA releases a TEMPLATE
  • STEP 2 - The TEMPLATE attracts and captures the scale contaminants (Ca, Mg & MCO3) by turning them into crystals that stick to the TEMPLATE'S surface
  • STEP 3 - The TEMPLATE carries the scale harmlessly through the piping
