The SteriPEN Classic handheld and portable UV water purifier utilizes C Wavelength UV (ultraviolet light) to purifier drinking water. The UV-C light is short wave light, between x-rays and visible light wavelengths, which destroy the DNA of microbes in seconds. Without functional DNA, microbes can't reproduce or make you sick.
The SteriPEN Classic utilizes four AA batteries and has a LED light indicator. The Classic mates with current commercial water bottles as well as the SteriPEN pre-filter that fits on Nalgene wide mouth water bottles.
To use the SteriPen Classic SPPF-RP, just press the button by selecting 16 fl oz., or 32 fl. oz. and place the SteriPEN into the water until the UV light automatically turns off.

The SteriPEN Classic from Hydro Photon is water resistant and is small enough to pack with you wherever you travel, hike, or camp. The Classic includes a blue neoprene case and a Pre-filter. SteriPEN recommends the use of rechargeable NIMH(Nickel Metal Hydride) or disposable lithium photo type batteries. Alkaline and Nickel Cadmium batteries will only last for 20 to 40 uses.
The SteriPEN Classic is also compatible with the SteriPEN FitsAll 4 micron filter adapter for removal of particulates before UV disinfection treatment.
