Low pH levels result in acidic water, which can damage pool surfaces and destroy tile grouting,metal and plastic equipment. Such water also contributes to burning eyes and dry skin.
Likewise, if your pool water pH level is too high and your water is too alkaline, scale can form on pool surfaces and in your pipes. Alkaline water, like acidic water, can lead to sore eyes and dry, irritated skin. Your chlorine will be less effective due to high pH levels, and you'll have to add much more chlorine as a result.
