Cyanide in water (CN-) is extremely toxic and is not commonly found at significant levels in drinking water. Cyanide in water is normally found in waste water from metal finishing operations and facilities. One of the more common types of cyanide is Hydrogen cyanide (HCN). Hydrogen cyanide is a colorless gas but can be sometime detected as a faint bitter-almond-like odor that most people can smell. The US EPA has not classified cyanide as a carcinogen because of inadequate data. No MCL level established or even proposed for cyanide water health.
Cyanide Water Treatment - Chlorine feed, retention, and filtration will break down the cyanide in tap water. Reverse Osmosis or Electrodialysis will remove 90 - 95 % of cyanide from water, and is considered as one of the best cyanide water treatment options.
