In both Anderson and Pickens Counties, residents are dealing with bad tasting and bad smelling drinking water. This is a byproduct of algal blooms in Lake Hartwell, the local reservoir. Algae blooms at a faster rate in warm water temperatures and the created compounds are not able to be filtered out at the Municipal Water Treatment Facility.
